The Queen Creek Town Council has formally recognized a group of standout students and teachers for their exemplary character and contributions to their school communities. At a series of recent council meetings, eleven “Star Students” and five “Star Teachers” were honored as part of a community-wide initiative aimed at celebrating educational achievement and integrity.

According to an article published on the Town of Queen Creek’s official website, schools across the town, including traditional public, charter, and virtual academies, were invited to nominate individuals who exemplify traits such as helpfulness, good citizenship, and leadership. The selected recipients represent a cross-section of Queen Creek’s educational landscape.

Among the honorees were Sapphire Hales from Benjamin Franklin Charter School - Crismon Campus and Ridge Allen of Benjamin Franklin High School. The Queen Creek Virtual Academy was also well represented, with Ava Salais, Aaron Rippee, and Brooklyn Sanders being recognized for their achievements.

The council also launched the inaugural “Star Teacher” category, recognizing one educator from each participating school. Honorees included Don Taylor of Frances Brandon Pickett Elementary, Gabriel Gahn from Queen Creek High School, Veronica Onofre of Katherine Mecham Barney Elementary, and Jill Moffat from Schnepf Elementary. A fifth teacher from the Benjamin Franklin Charter School - Crismon Campus also received accolades. The teachers were praised for their dedication and impact, with the article noting that they “provide unwavering support to their students, encouraging them to strive for excellence.”

To celebrate their accomplishments, students received gift cards to local ice cream shops, donated by Bahama Bucks, Cold Stone Creamery, Dairy Queen, Jeremiah’s Italian Ice, and Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt. Teachers were gifted coffee shop certificates courtesy of local businesses, including the Bistro, Sidewalk Coffee and Bagel Co., and Black Rock Coffee.

The Town of Queen Creek has expressed its intention to continue the program annually and encourages community engagement in future nomination cycles. Residents can stay updated on the recognition program and other local initiatives through the town’s website and social media channels. This recognition program adds to a growing list of initiatives focused on fostering a culture of appreciation and excellence in education within the Queen Creek community.
