Last night at precisely 8:45 pm, a house on the 4300 block of Batts Rd. was engulfed in flames, prompting a swift response from multiple fire departments. In a post made by the Raleigh Professional Fire Fighters Association, it was reported that the fire involved a one-story, wood frame quadruplex, which was "well involved."
Engine 19 was the first on the scene, with Engine 11 and Squad 7 arriving shortly afterwards to establish water supply and RIT. The severity of the blaze led crews to adopt a defensive strategy, as Ladder 15 went about setting up "aerial ops" upon arrival and Engine 15 extended a line to Division C. The fire was declared under control within a half hour at 9:15 pm, as stated by the RPFFA's social media post.
Fighting a fire is no small feat, and the challenge is compounded, by unfavorable weather conditions. However, the cooperative efforts of all the participating units, including B2, B5, DC1, INV1, ISO14, A28, E11, E15, L12, L15, S7, and R16, resulted in a successful operation with "no injuries to report." They remained on site to "mop up the rest of the hot spots" even after the main threat had been subdued, as per the Raleigh Professional Fire Fighters Association.
The Raleigh Professional Fire Fighters Association lauded the efficiency and teamwork of all companies involved in the incident in their post, noting it as "solid work." Such incidents are a stark reminder of the constant readiness and bravery of our firefighters, who put their lives on the line to ensure the safety of the community, even when conditions are less than ideal. The post was accompanied by several hashtags that underscore their ongoing commitment, including #raleighfire, #firefighters, and #firerescue among others. Full details of the fire, including the cause and potential damage, have not yet been released.
