Round Rock's much-anticipated community event, Shred for a Paws Cause, is set to occur on April 12, giving residents a chance to securely dispose of their personal documents while aiding local animal shelter efforts. The event, hosted at the Bob Bennett Building, 3400 Sunrise Road, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. will allow locals to bring up to five standard-sized file boxes of paper and 10 media items for destruction, according to the city's announcement.
The service, though offered at no cost, supports a higher purpose, benefiting the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter. Attendees are encouraged to consider donations while they declutter their lives of CDs, floppy disks, hard drives, and checkbooks. Among the suggested gifts are cat litter, carriers, various pet toys, pill pockets, hypoallergenic dog shampoo, and monetary contributions, which can be consulted on the Shelter’s wish list, the city's press page states.
By ensuring that all shredded paper is recycled, Shred for a Paws Cause aligns local environmental consciousness with community generosity. This fusion of eco-friendliness and animal welfare has been a distinct characteristic of the event since its inception in 2013, leading to the recycling of over 206,000 pounds of material and the gathering of thousands for the shelter's animals in need.
Note that while the shredding event was originally slated for April 5, it was moved to April 12. Those planning to attend this year’s event should mark their calendars accordingly, update their schedules, and remember that their efforts contribute to both a greener planet and the well-being of shelter pets awaiting adoption.
