Sacramento will hold the 26th Annual Outstanding Citizen Awards Ceremony on Friday at the Board of Supervisors' Chambers. The event, hosted by District Attorney Thien Ho, will recognize individuals and an organization for their actions that supported the criminal justice process and public safety, as reported by the Sacramento District Attorney's Office.

The Sacramento District Attorney's Office will recognize Harrell Fischer, John Stubbe, 6-year-old Damaria, and Gigi Barrios for their roles in two separate cases. Fischer and Stubbe responded to a crash and gunshot, finding a submerged vehicle in the Sacramento River. They rescued children from the vehicle, and Damaria later provided key information that helped convict Mandiko Kwadzo of first-degree murder. In a separate case, Barrios identified signs of distress from a human trafficking victim, Precious, at the Medical Safe Haven. Her report to law enforcement led to the arrest and conviction of the trafficker, who was sentenced to 71 years to life in prison.

North Peredina and Scott Kingston worked to recover stolen property and advocate for public safety improvements during a rise in retail crime. Their efforts, along with help from Joseph Bayless and Brandon Gross, led to the arrest and conviction of Tycho Roney for burglary, according to the Sacramento District Attorney’s Office. Lisa Corral will receive the Beacon of Hope Award for supporting domestic violence victims. The River City Waterway Alliance is also being recognized for removing 247 tons of debris from local waterways. Details about the honorees and the upcoming ceremony are available to the public.
