Tragedy struck on a San Antonio road Wednesday afternoon when Richard Aron Gonzales, aged 20, was involved in a high-speed crash that resulted in the death of 71-year-old Patricia Browning. According to KTSA, Bexar County Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene in the 1100 block of Alamo Ranch Parkway just before 12:30 p.m., where they found a black SUV overturned with significant damage done to the passenger side and a white Ford Mustang with extensive front-end damage.

The KHOU report details that Gonzales was allegedly traveling at speeds more than double the 45 mph limit, and the onboard data system, Berla, recorded the Mustang's speed at a staggering 108 mph at the time of impact, this devastating speed struck Browning's vehicle with such force, causing it to roll and spin out of control, ultimately leading to her tragic death within an hour of the event after she was rushed to a local hospital.

The investigation found that witness statements, surveillance footage from nearby businesses, and the evidence collected on-site all confirmed the high-speed nature of Gonzales' driving prior to the accident. "Investigators say evidence collected at the scene, surveillance video, and witness statements confirm the sports car was speeding just before the crash," as KTSA reported.

Despite the fact that Gonzales also sustained serious injuries in this high-speed collision he has been charged with manslaughter, with officials from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office stating that he will be taken into custody and charged formally upon his release from the hospital, it remains unclear when Gonzales will be well enough to be booked.
