With the steadfast determination of a community looking to chart its own course, San Tan Valley Inc. has pushed its incorporation efforts one step further. As reported by Pinal County's official website, the group gathered and submitted a whopping 10,500 signatures this morning to the Pinal County Elections Department. San Tan Valley, a burgeoning area in need of definition, might just be on the cusp of reinventing itself as a formally recognized town.
However, not all submitted signatures may hold the water of legitimacy; the Elections Department needs to validate the signatures before anything else. A random assortment, representative of the whole, will be handpicked by Pinal County's diligent workers, and given to the Recorder’s office for thorough vetting. The process, tinged with hopeful anticipation, hinges on the verification of at least 6,107 of these signatures. If they are deemed authentic, the wheels will be set in motion towards a community-changing vote scheduled for August 5.
Residents of the valley must now await the decisions of both the Elections Department and the Board of Supervisors. If approved, a measure on the upcoming August ballot will stand as the crucible for incorporation.
