A Santa Rosa man was arrested and faces multiple felony charges after Sonoma County Sheriff's deputies found him in possession of illegal drugs and an unserialized firearm during a traffic stop and subsequent residence search.
According to a social media post from the Sonoma Sheriff, the Sheriff's Narcotics Unit conducted the operation on Highway 101 in Petaluma and Santa Rosa yesterday. Law enforcement officials apprehended 27-year-old Cesar Eduardo Espinosa-Arbaca, who was carrying about 7000 fentanyl pills, 10 ounces of cocaine, and a non-serialized semi-automatic pistol. Alongside these items, deputies also seized $30,000 in what is suspected to be drug sales proceeds.
Espinosa-Arbaca now faces charges for the possession of cocaine and fentanyl for sale, transportation of cocaine, and possession of an unregistered firearm. With the current bail protocols, he could have been released with a citation. However, the Narcotics Detectives put forward a bail enhancement request due to the severity of the charges. A Sonoma County Superior Court Judge upheld the request, setting the bail at a quarter-million dollars.
"The safety of our community is not just a top priority but a commitment that we, the Sheriff's Office, take seriously," the Sonoma Sheriff's Office stated.
