The National Weather Service in Seattle has updated its forecast for the coming week, indicating a wet and somewhat unpredictable period ahead for the Pacific Northwest. According to the latest NWS update, there is a 50 percent chance of showers overnight with temperatures expected to dip to the mid-40s, accompanied by a consistent south wind.
Heading into Tuesday, Seattle residents will see showers and possibly a thunderstorm before the afternoon, marking a 100 percent chance of precipitation. "Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5pm," the report adds, emphasizing an ongoing pattern of instability in the local atmosphere. New rainfall amounts could be significant, varying between a quarter to half an inch.
The midweek forecast holds a slight reprieve with a 40 percent chance of showers mainly between 11:00 p.m. and midnight on Tuesday night. Wednesday will offer a break from the rain with partly sunny skies and a high near 60 degrees, which should allow for outdoor activities and a brief respite from umbrella usage.
But this pause in precipitation is short-lived as rain is likely again starting Thursday after 11:00 a.m., with an overcast sky and mild temperatures in the low 60s. "Chance of precipitation is 60%," the NWS report states, with new precipitation amounts reaching up to a quarter of an inch. A similar pattern follows into the weekend, with rain before 11:00 p.m. on Thursday and a chance of showers rolling into Friday morning.
As Seattle heads into the weekend, the weather remains uncertain with a consistent chance of showers through Saturday night. Temperatures will hover in the low to mid-50s, typical of the region's spring climate. A slight chance of showers continues on Saturday night, but Sunday is forecast to bring a return of mostly sunny skies and highs approaching the upper 50s, promising a more agreeable end to a wet week.
