
Residents of Rice County faced a severe weather ordeal that left numerous properties damaged. The incident occurred on the evening of April 28, with Rice County deputies documenting the aftermath around 6:30 p.m. in the 9000 block of 230th Street East, Richland Township. A weather event, characterized by its intensity, tore through the area, leaving behind a trail of destruction that affected outbuildings, vehicles, and other forms of property, as stated in a release by the Rice County Sheriff's Office.
Fortunately, amidst the chaos wrought by the storm, there were no reports of personal injuries. When deputies arrived at the scene, they reached out to residents who described significant property damage due to the weather system's violent impact. Additionally, similar reports of property damage came from the 6100 block of 250th Street W, near Morristown, indicating the breadth of the storm's reach within the county.
The Sheriff’s Office, along with Sheriff Jesse Thomas and Capt. Paul LaRoche extended their assistance to those affected, and in a statement released by the Rice County Sheriff's Office, Capt. LaRoche expressed a note of relief and concern, saying, "The Rice County Sheriff’s Office is thankful no one was injured and our thoughts are with those who were impacted by this event."
