The fiscal landscape for billionaires has seen a shift as outlined by the latest findings from Forbes. In its annual list of billionaires, Forbes reported an increase in the net worth of Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan to $13.4 billion, a roughly 10% jump from the previous year's $12.2 billion, as per First Coast News.
Despite this uptick in valuation, a discrepancy arises in Khan's overall position, having slipped down the rankings from 162nd in 2024 to 175th this year as reported by the Jax Daily Record. In a landscape where the number of billionaires grew to 3,028, the ranking can be impacted by a multitude of factors, including but not limited to the wealth accumulation by peers, market dynamics, and industry trends. His bump in wealth notwithstanding, Khan's demotion in the ranks illustrates a broader narrative of wealth expansion and competition among the global elite.
Focusing on his assets, Khan's NFL franchise, the Jacksonville Jaguars, purchased for $770 million in 2012, now stands at a valuation of $4.6 billion according to Forbes. Beyond sports, Khan has found success with the Illinois-based auto parts company Flex-N-Gate Corp, having an estimated annual revenue of $8.9 billion and being ranked 58th on Forbes' list of America's Top Private Companies in 2024.
In a statement obtained by Naples News, Shahid Khan, among the hundreds attending the Naples Winter Wine Festival's auction on Jan. 27, 2024, is now the richest person in Naples – and Southwest Florida. Nonetheless, the shuffle in the ranks, Khan still retains his position as the wealthiest in his locale, underscoring the relative stability of his fortune amidst the region's affluent population. His net worth has grown, yet in the last two years, he's slipped from No. 144 in 2023 to No. 175, as the intricacies of asset valuation and the ever-growing list of billionaires make their mark.
Former Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver and Jacksonville-based Fidelity National Financial Inc.' chairman Bill Foley also find their ways onto the 2025 Forbes list. Weaver maintains a $1.2 billion net worth, though his ranking has fallen from 2,410th in 2024 to 2,623rd this year. Foley, on the other hand, improved his standing from 1,764th to 1,305th with a significant increase in his wealth from $1.8 billion to $2.8 billion, as reported by the Jax Daily Record.
