A violent altercation on Santa Monica Beach early Saturday morning left two siblings with serious injuries after they were stabbed by unidentified attackers, authorities confirmed. The incident unfolded near Ocean Front Walk, where police responded to the scene around 2:30 a.m. to find the two victims, a brother and sister, suffering from stab wounds.
One of the victims detailed their harrowing experience in an interview with KTLA, requesting anonymity. The 28-year-old sister reported that she was stabbed four times – in her head, her back, and under her armpit area. Her brother, 24, sustained five stab wounds to his stomach and back, his condition critical enough to require an extended hospital stay. The group had ventured to the beach simply to "dip their toes in the water" when they encountered the two men who seemed to be drinking and riding scooters along the boardwalk.
Later on, the sister noticed the men were following them, leading to a confrontation where the men allegedly brandished pocket knives and began threatening the siblings and their friends. Despite an attempt to de-escalate the situation, physical violence ensued, after which the group fled to safety. Some footage of the suspects was recorded and shared with the media outlet, hoping it might aid in their identification and capture.
The Santa Monica Police Department has launched an investigation, which remains active and ongoing. While details on the suspects have not been disclosed yet, Santa Monica's mayor is contemplating new safety measures, including a potential beach curfew, as reported by FOX LA.
