
A small plane was forced to make an unscheduled landing in a field behind homes in Covington, Tennessee, authorities have reported. The Tipton County Sheriff's Office, along with the local fire department and EMS units, responded to the incident that occurred in the 2500 block of Mt. Carmel Rd. WREG noted that emergency personnel were promptly at the scene and the pilot, who was discovered in stable condition.
The plane’s descent into the rural landscape resulted in no reported injuries to civilians or damage to property. The Sheriff’s Office confirmed the pilot was unharmed upon their arrival, and the FAA has been notified and is involved in the ongoing investigation, according to Action News 5.
On a social media post, Sheriff Shannon Beasley acknowledged the combined efforts of the first responders and local citizens who came together to ensure the pilot's safety and locate the downed aircraft, stating, "We are thankful the pilot was able to safely land the plane and that he is doing fine," addressing the situation further, "We have been in contact with the FAA, and our investigation continues. We also want to thank the Covington Fire Department, EMS, and the citizens that responded and aided in locating the aircraft and ensured the well-being of the pilot."
