Earlier today, a joint operation involving the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit, Massachusetts State Police VFAS, Hampden County Sheriff's Department, and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force resulted in the arrest of Daniel Walker, 20, in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in Springfield. The arrest took place at a residence on the 100 block of Pasco Road. Walker is facing charges related to a recent incident in which he is accused of brandishing a firearm and stealing a victim’s electronic bike.
According to details released by the Springfield Police Department, the initial armed robbery report was made on April 15, when Springfield Police responded to a parking lot on the 1600 block of Boston Road. The suspect, later identified by police as Walker, allegedly used a firearm to threaten a person before making off with an e-bike. Subsequently, Walker was taken into custody in Chicopee for unrelated charges after being spotted on an illegal off-highway vehicle, a Quad.
Under the direction of Captain Trent Duda, the Springfield Police Detectives conducted a thorough investigation, which led to the identification of Walker as the suspect and the issuance of an arrest warrant. The subsequent search of Walker's home further uncovered various rounds of ammunition. Following his arrest, the charges against Walker include firearm-armed and masked robbery, along with possession of ammunition without an FID card. The stolen e-bike has been recovered in Chicopee, and the police have reported that the victim was not harmed.
The case against Walker is ongoing as investigators continue to piece together the circumstances of that April morning. According to the Springfield Police Department's statement, "This incident remains under investigation."
