The West Memphis Police Department has ramped up efforts to locate Jessie Lee, a 78-year-old resident of West Memphis, who has been missing for almost a week. According to Local Memphis, Lee, who suffers from dementia and high blood pressure, was last spotted on April 10th. The authorities have not disclosed the precise location where he disappeared.
In response to the disappearance, a Silver Alert was issued—a measure reserved for critical missing cases involving the elderly. Garnering widespread attention, the call to action was upgraded to a statewide alert merely two hours after the initial BOLO (Be On the Lookout) from the WMPD. Diagnosed with dementia, the condition potentially aggravates his vulnerability, as reported by Action News 5.
Lee, as described by the police, is about 5′8″ tall and weighs 158 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. Last seen wearing a gray short-sleeved shirt, gray sweatpants, a black ball cap, and brown shoes, family members also reported that it was not uncommon for him to sit on the front porch of his home on North 8th Street, where he was last observed.
The West Memphis Police Department has reached out via social media to amplify the search for Lee, recognizing the importance of the community in times of need. "We urgently need your help to find Jessie Lee, who is still missing," shared the WMPD on their Facebook page. The agency emphasized the critical nature of his conditions and urged the public to share the information widely, hoping that collective efforts would help in bringing Lee home.
Anyone who might have seen Jessie Lee or has information on his whereabouts is encouraged to get in touch with the West Memphis Police Department at 870-735-1210 or through Crittenden County CrimeStoppers for the wellbeing of Lee, who might be in a vulnerable state due to his medical conditions. The community's role in resolving such incidents remains substantial, reflecting a shared responsibility for the safety of its members.
