Honolulu will experience moderate trade winds throughout the week, with clouds and showers mainly affecting windward and mauka areas, especially overnight and in the early mornings. The National Weather Service - Honolulu reports that a remnant front will bring moisture to the islands, and an upper-level trough could "lead to periods of enhanced windward showers." The trade winds will shift to a moderate range and become more northeasterly. "Shower coverage has increased overnight due to a shallow band of moisture that has moved into the area, which will linger over the next few days," the National Weather Service states, with rainfall expected to remain light.
A high-pressure system with a central pressure of 1035 mb will move north of the islands on Wednesday, strengthening trade winds, particularly over the western parts of the state. Windward areas may see occasional showers due to lingering moisture and an upper-level trough. The AIRMET Tango has been canceled as trade winds have slightly weakened. Cloud cover and showers are expected in windward and mauka areas of Maui County and the Big Island, with "isolated pockets of MVFR ceilings and visibility." Leeward areas are expected to have VFR conditions, according to the National Weather Service.
Trade winds are weakening but will strengthen on Wednesday afternoon. "Small Craft Advisory (SCA) conditions have fallen and will remain just below advisory thresholds into Wednesday," so the Small Craft Advisor has been canceled. A small swell may increase surf late Thursday into Friday. In the south, today's swell is slightly above average but will decline after on Wednesday. No watches, warnings, or advisories are currently in effect, as mentioned by the National Weather Service.
