In what can only be described as a successful collaborative effort, the Lafayette Police Department, along with multiple other agencies, has brought a suspected burglar to justice. Earlier this month, an unknown individual was reported to have entered two local schools clandestinely and purloined multiple credit cards. A comprehensive investigation by the Lafayette Police detectives facilitated the identification of not just the vehicle believed to be used by the suspect but also the suspect himself.
The ongoing probe revealed that the suspect's alleged criminal behavior extended beyond Lafayette into seven other regional jurisdictions. To decisively apprehend the individual, Lafayette detectives secured a Ramey arrest warrant. It was last Friday that their diligence bore fruit. In a collaborative strike involving the Vacaville PD, Marin County Sheriff's Office, Dublin PD, and Danville PD, search warrants were executed at three residences. According to the Lafayette Police Department's social media post, this coordinated operation successfully arrested 34-year-old Christopher Britton of Fairfield.
Britton, now residing at the Marin County Jail, faces several charges, including credit card fraud, identity theft, and burglary. The execution of the search warrants resulted in his capture and the seizure of evidence and items believed to be linked to the crimes in question.
Recognition has been extended to the Marin County Sheriff's Office and the Vacaville Police Department; their prior investigations on Britton undoubtedly sharpened the focus of the capture effort. The police departments have actively encouraged anyone with information on this case to come forward and reach out to the Lafayette detectives at (925) 283-3680 or (925) 299-3234 or to connect via email at [email protected].
