Brevard County is grappling with discord stirred by the return of teacher Karly Anderson to the classroom, despite facing charges for her involvement in a January house party where underage students had access to alcohol. Anderson, a veteran of nearly two decades in the district and formerly a teacher at Roosevelt Elementary, is now teaching at Saturn Elementary in Cocoa, as reported by Hoodline.
Anderson is now facing misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and disorderly intoxication, which carry potential jail time and fines, she asserts that her on-camera behavior doesn't merit the criminal allegations and is vying for dismissal of the charges, and the case notably involved around 100 teenagers attending a "white lie" party at the residence of Elizabeth Hill-Brodigan, who was the principal at Roosevelt Elementary at the time faces more serious charges but contrary to Anderson, Hill-Brodigan remains on unpaid leave as indicated by ClickOrlando.
The State Attorney's Office has dropped felony charges against Anderson, and the Department of Children and Families has cleared her as well, resulting in her reinstatement by Brevard Public Schools. However, the release of the bodycam footage prompted the district to place Anderson on leave once again, only to reverse that decision, according to ClickOrlando.
