A grim scene unfolded at Tom Lee Park on Saturday evening during what was meant to be a celebration of food and culture. According to Action News 5, the Memphis Police Department (MPD) reported a shooting incident at the Food Truck & Culture Festival. Officers arriving at Riverside Drive near Beale Street at 6:46 PM found a young male victim, believed to be between 15-18 years old, dead on the scene.
Witnesses described the suspect as wearing a black ski mask, and police, in a statement detailed by Local Memphis, have indicated that the suspects are "likely juveniles." The event plunged the festival into chaos, with attendees scrambling for safety as the shots rang out. In the aftermath, a large police presence cordoned off the area, searching for evidence and ensuring no further threat to public safety.
The Memphis Police Department has urged the public to come forward with any information that may help solve the crime. They spoke out via social media, echoing, "While incidents like these are deeply troubling, they do not define our city.
