
A teenage boy fell victim to a daylight robbery in the Jeff-Vander-Lou neighborhood. The incident, reported to have occurred yesterday, unfolded on North Market Street & Prairie Avenue and involved three suspects, two of whom allegedly approached the 17-year-old from behind. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the suspects accused the teen of badmouthing someone before using firearms to forcefully demand his belongings.
As detailed by a statement by SLMPD, the young man was walking at around 3:30 p.m. when the robbery took place. It was then that a third suspect arrived, driving a black Ford Fusion. The suspects managed to take various items from the teen, including his phone, money, shoes, and jackets. In a bid to quickly escape the traumatic situation, the teen managed to run away and subsequently heard gunshots as the suspects fled the scene in the aforementioned vehicle.
No physical injuries were reported during the occurrence of the crime, yet the trauma of such an event can often leave unseen scars. The District 4 detectives are actively investigating the robbery, calling on the public to come forward with any tips that might lead to an arrest of the individuals responsible. The Police Department assures confidentiality and the possibility of financial rewards for information that successfully aids in the apprehension of the suspects involved.
