The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has issued a notice of a temporary closure for the Camp Lake boat launch, located at 27700 113th St., in the town of Trevor, Kenosha County. Starting Monday and continuing until approximately 4 p.m. on Friday, boaters will need to seek alternative routes for their water ventures. This hiatus in normal operations comes as improvements are planned for the concrete launch, which facilitates the entry of numerous vessels into the natural serenity of Camp Lake—a pause for progress, one might say.
Set against the potential backdrop of inclement weather, the DNR has outlined an alternative schedule, ensuring that, should the skies over Trevor decide not to cooperate with their plans, the launch will close on Tuesday and reopen next Monday. Anglers and boating enthusiasts seeking solitude or sport in the natural embrace of Camp Lake will need to bide their time or find new waters to conquer during this short stretch of days. "Anyone hoping to access Camp Lake with trailered boats will need to find a different access point on the lake or find an alternative fishing location during this time," the DNR advised, as reported in a recent release.
The DNR has ensured that, while trailered watercraft cannot launch, rowboats, canoes, and kayaks still have access to the lake. The planned improvements, which include a sturdier concrete launch, will enhance the lake's accessibility. Though boats are temporarily moored, Camp Lake will await the completion of the work, after which trailered vehicles can return to explore its waters.
