A hiker in his late forties from Tennessee was reported on Kaua'i's Kalalau Trail on Tuesday. Emergency services responded around 5:30 p.m. The County of Kauai issued a press release about the incident the following day.
Personnel from Hanalei Fire Station, Ocean Safety Bureau, and American Medical Response hiked approximately one mile into the area to assist a hiker showing symptoms of heat exhaustion. The hiker was moving "slow but steady" and was able to reach the trailhead just after sunset, as reported by the County of Kauai.
The American Medical Response team evaluated the hiker and determined no further medical attention was needed. The scene was cleared by 7:30 p.m. No additional details were provided regarding the incident, as stated by the County of Kauai.
