Residents of Fayette, Unicoi, and Williamson Counties in Tennessee have the opportunity to ensure their spring cleaning efforts are environmentally responsible this year. The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) is setting up its mobile household hazardous waste collection service in these areas on Saturday. Tennesseans are urged to bring items like cleaning fluids, pesticides, and swimming pool chemicals to designated drop-off locations, as reported by TDEC. As per the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, you don't have to live in the county to drop off your hazardous waste.
David Salyers, TDEC Commissioner, noted the importance of the collection service by saying, "This collection service provides an excellent way to responsibly dispose of household hazardous waste, and we want to make it as convenient as possible." In TDEC's announcement, he also added, "We welcome all Tennesseans to take advantage of this opportunity to show their commitment to environmental protection."
The event schedules and locations are as follows: In Fayette County, the service will be available from 8 a.m. to Noon at the Fayette County Landfill, and you can reach out to Terry Chambers for more info. Unicoi County residents can visit the Unicoi County Highway Garage, where Garland Evely will be your point of contact, also between 8 a.m. and Noon. Lastly, Williamson County is set to have its collection at the Williamson County Administrative Complex until 1 p.m., with Mac Nolen ready to assist those interested.
