A man from Toledo, identified as Darnell Jones, who is accused of the heinous crime of murdering his 13-year-old daughter, is to be kept under custody without bond, according to officials. After a confrontation with Columbus police that resulted in him being shot, Jones was arrested and is now facing multiple charges. As per ABC 6 On Your Side, Jones opened fire on Columbus Police SWAT officers on March 25, leading officers to return fire and wound him.

Following his arrest, Jones, also known by the surname Ogletree, was ordered to be held without bond by a Franklin County judge. Although he was scheduled for a preliminary hearing on April 18, his appearance was waived, and he now faces extradition to Lucas County, where the more serious charges of murder and abduction await him, reported by 10TV. He remains in custody without bond at the James A. Karnes Correction Center in Columbus after being stabilized post-injury, and officials have a 15-day window to effectuate the extradition process.

The search for Jones was sparked by the tragic discovery of his daughter, Kei'Mani Latigue's body within an abandoned house in Toledo, with her death ruled a homicide due to "multiple deep cuts to her neck," as the Lucas County Coroner's Office declared. Sources close to the investigation told WTOL 11 that Jones was the last person seen with his daughter before her tragic demise, leading to the charges against him.

In addition to the murder and abduction charges, Jones also faces the charge of felonious assault for his actions against the SWAT officers in Columbus. As Columbus Police Sgt. James Fuqua recounted, Jones had been under investigation for at least two days and, upon being located, engaged in armed confrontation with authorities. Jones, now recovering from his injuries from the shooting incident, was unable to attend his arraignment and remains held awaiting legal proceedings.
