
A house fire in Berks County this morning resulted in the loss of two lives. Officials confirmed that fire crews were dispatched to the scene on the 3200 block of Morgantown Road in Mohnton, around 4:40 a.m., where they encountered a blaze, as per an NBC10 report.
Firefighters responded during the blaze and were able to rescue two individuals from the fire. They were quickly transported to Reading Hospital as trauma patients but later passed away from their injuries, as reported by 6abc. Authorities have not yet released their identities.
In a statement obtained by Local 21 News, Deputy Fire Chief of Geigertown reported that an officer, noticing the smell of smoke, found the fire on Morgantown Road but could not intervene due to the intensity of the flames. The officer observed vehicles in the driveway, and a neighbor indicated that the homeowners were likely inside.
Fire crews informed NBC10 that an ongoing investigation is expected to clarify the circumstances of this fatal incident. Further details about the fire are expected to be released as the investigation continues.
