The University of Cincinnati recently observed the graduation of a cadre of aspiring engineers, courtesy of the GE Aerospace Foundation's Next Engineers initiative. Forty-three members from the program's second academy cohort joined a celebratory event at UC's Nippert Stadium, as reported by University of Cincinnati News. The initiative, which was established in 2021 by GE Aerospace, seeks to offer scholarships and career-readiness opportunities to young individuals passionate about entering the engineering field.
Among the graduates was Phurin Lehman, a senior at Lakota West High School, who shared, "We’ve been together now for three years. So I was able to see their experience, and share mine. We’re like family now," he told the University of Cincinnati News. Lehman plans to continue his educational journey this fall by pursuing a degree in construction management at UC's College of Engineering and Applied Science. His sentiments underscore the sense of community and collaboration fostered by the Next Engineers program among its participants.
Next Engineers has positioned itself as a vital artery in the body of initiatives aimed at bolstering STEM education.
