Waipahu residents were awakened yesterday morning to the sight of flames as a two-alarm fire ravaged a local residence. According to a press release from the Honolulu Fire Department, the call for emergency services came in at 12:57 a.m., and firefighters were dispatched to 94-107 Hula Street, arriving at the scene ten minutes later.
The fire, which had completely engulfed the residential structure upon their arrival, was wrestled into submission, with the flames being brought under control at 1:34 a.m. Despite the rapid response, the building collapsed during the firefighting operations, with crews being forced to transition to defensive tactics to protect nearby structures. Secure at the time, all occupants were thankfully reported as unscathed.
