Wheat Ridge Police Department, in partnership with Jefferson County Coroner's Office, has turned to the community for assistance in a death investigation dating back to last year. According to the Wheat Ridge Police Department, on December 27, 2024, a pedestrian discovered human remains in an abandoned campsite located in a wooded area north of Clear Creek in the northwest region of Wheat Ridge.
The coroner's office has estimated the deceased to be a male between the ages of 45 and 75 years old, who likely passed away sometime between 2021 and 2023. Authorities have emphasized, "there is no threat to public safety and we do not believe this death is suspicious at this time," as per the Wheat Ridge Police Department. The objective of their public outreach is to bring resolution to those who may have known the man and are in search of answers.
Aiding in the identification process, a forensic sculptor worked in collaboration with the Jefferson County Coroner's Office to create a facial reconstruction from the remains. The provided artist's interpretation offers a visual approximation of what the deceased might have looked like in life, in hopes that it will elicit recognition and potential leads.
