In a post shared on their Facebook page, the department detailed an incident near I-70 and Kipling where officers contacted a man driving a truck with expired temporary tags.
The routine check escalated quickly when the driver's background was scrutinized. The man, who had his driving status revoked for being a habitual traffic offender, was revealed to possess several warrants against his name, including a felony warrant from Texas for sexual assault on a child with nationwide extradition. "When enforcing expired temp tags leads to something bigger, we create a safer community," as stated by the Wheat Ridge Police Department.
