Wilmington Police have taken a 22-year-old man into custody after he allegedly fled from a stopped vehicle and was found with several firearms, one of which had been reported stolen. The arrest unfolded in the morning hours of April 15 in the 500 block of Lafayette Boulevard, this, according to a release by the Wilmington Police Department.
Officers from the Uniformed Services Division were conducting a routine stop when the passenger identified as Jermaine Winckler, exited the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot. Following, a short chase, Winckler was apprehended without further incident. Police then seized a loaded 9mm handgun, a .38 caliber handgun, and a loaded .40 caliber handgun amid the arrest, as reported by the Wilmington Police Department.
In the aftermath of the pursuit, Winckler faces multiple counts of carrying a concealed deadly weapon along with a charge of resisting arrest. The incident report, detailed on the Wilmington Police Department's official communication channel, mentioned that he was arraigned at the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and is currently held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution with bail set at $80,000 cash-only.
