
Early Saturday morning, an armed robbery occurred at a 7-Eleven store on Main Street in Worcester. According to a Facebook post from the Worcester Police Department, a male suspect entered the store around 3:25 a.m., took items without paying, brandished a knife, and stole money from the premises. Acting on received information, the Worcester Police promptly began their search for the suspect.
The investigation took a swift turn when officers identified Charles Yawn, a thirty-year-old resident of William St, on Main St. Given the similarity between Mr. Yawn and the individual in the store's surveillance footage, officers proceeded to a pat frisk, during which Mr. Yawn responded with violence, assaulting an officer. This turn of events led to his arrest and the recovery of a pair of scissors from his person. Yawn has been charged with Armed Robbery, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, and on top of these, was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant.
