The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office (YCSO) SWAT team clinched their third consecutive victory at the 3rd Annual Sgt Tieman Memorial Bearcat Pull held last Saturday in downtown Prescott. Struggling against the weight of a 10-ton SWAT Bearcat vehicle, eight-member teams, both civilian and first responders, battled it out on Cortez Street to gather donations for the AZ Special Olympics. In a nail-biting finish, YCSO edged out Prescott Valley PD by mere inches to secure the win, as recounted by the YCSO news release.
The double-elimination tournament witnessed intense competition as YCSO SWAT overcame their rivals, Prescott Valley PD, not once but twice— the second time in a photo finish that secured their championship status. Prescott Valley PD had previously defeated Prescott PD to claim their spot in the final round. Despite the fierce competition, the heart of the event was its cause.
The event drew in spectators, friends, and family members, along with teams like Asphalt Paving and Supply and High Desert Investors, who contributed to the festive yet competitive atmosphere. The collective effort culminated in a significant contribution to special athletes across Arizona. As per the YCSO's announcement, "Thank you" echoed as a sentiment of gratitude for the estimated $5,000 raised during the event, a figure which speaks to the engagement and heart of all those involved.
Appreciation for the participants and the public was widespread, with YCSO extending their thanks to everyone who entered, cheered, and donated to the cause.
