
Over the weekend, 23 people were arrested during protests at Cal Anderson Park. According to the Seattle Police Department (SPD), officers responded to a conflict between two groups when violence broke out. Eleven individuals were arrested during the initial disturbance.
At around 1:30 PM, protesters from one group began throwing objects at the other. When officers attempted to arrest those responsible, additional confrontations occurred, leading to more arrests. One officer was injured during the incident and later treated at a hospital before being released. The Washington State Patrol later assisted with the response.
Police continued to make arrests throughout the afternoon, with a total of 12 more individuals detained for assault and obstruction. A juvenile was also detained for obstruction but was later released from the precinct.
By the end of the day, 22 adults had been booked into King County Jail. The Seattle Police Department has not reported any long-term resolutions between the groups involved.
