In a recent crackdown on illegal narcotics, the Wareham Police Department, alongside several other law enforcement agencies, managed to seize an extensive assortment of drugs and apprehend a 25-year-old suspect in Marion, Massachusetts. According to a post on the Wareham Police Department social media, detectives executed three narcotic-related search warrants last Tuesday, which led to the arrest of Dylan McCoog and the seizure of fentanyl, cocaine, various pills, drug paraphernalia, and over $65,000 in US currency.
The operation was a collaborative effort involving members from the Wareham Police Criminal Investigation Division, Patrol Division, Marion Police Department, and Plymouth Police Department, including their K-9 units. The joint investigation by these agencies culminated in the charges against McCoog, which include trafficking fentanyl and possession with intent to distribute Class A and Class B substances, among other offenses. Wareham's Chief of Police Walter Correia Jr. commended the teamwork, saying it was instrumental in removing potentially deadly drugs from the streets.
Subsequent to his arrest, McCoog faced arraignment at the Wareham Fourth District Court, where he was charged with trafficking fentanyl, three counts of possession with intent to distribute Class B subsequent offense, possession with intent to distribute Class A subsequent offense, disorderly conduct, and assault and battery on a police officer. The court has set his bail at $20,000 cash.
The success of the operation reflects the ongoing battle against the opioid epidemic that has plagued not just Massachusetts but the nation as a whole. "Chief Walter Correia Jr. applauded the collaborative effort between the multiple agencies involved in the investigation for taking potential lethal drugs off the streets," states the Wareham Police Department's official communication.
