An arrest has been made in conjunction with the fatal shooting of Joshua Manahan in South Portland. The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Rodney Marcus Arreguin, was taken into custody by officers from the East Precinct nearly a week after the incident, KOIN reports. The arrest occurred around 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, marking a turn in the investigation into the death of Manahan.
Manahan, a 44-year-old man, suffered a fatal gunshot wound reported around 10:20 p.m. on April 27, near the intersection of South Harbor Drive and South Harrison Street. KGW notes that he was promptly transported to a hospital, only to succumb to his injuries thereafter. In the days to follow, law enforcement officials worked diligently to quickly piece together the evidence leading up to the arrest.
Arreguin now faces serious charges, including second-degree murder and first-degree robbery, as he was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center following his apprehension. These charges reflect the grave consequences of the violence that took Manahan's life and the alleged predatory actions that accompanied it. KPTV's coverage of the event includes the charges but not yet any insight into the motivation behind the shooting or the sequence of events that led to Arreguin's alleged involvement.
