As Memorial Day approaches, the City of Atlanta's Department of Public Works has announced a slight tweak in its timetable for solid waste services. There will be no collections of garbage, recycling, or yard trimmings tomorrow, due to the federal holiday dedicated to honoring military personnel who have died while serving in the United States armed forces.
Residents of Atlanta should note that this change means a delay in service by a day throughout the remainder of the week. Typically, the city staggers these types of services to maintain efficiency. However, holidays inevitably necessitate a reshuffling of schedules. So, those usually seeing their waste removed on Friday will need to curb their bins by 7:00 a.m. on the following day next Saturday, according to an announcement from the City of Atlanta's official website.
The usual routine of garbage collection will resume its regular Monday to Friday pattern starting on June 2. This should come as a relief to residents who prefer the regularity of their weekly services and might find the disruption to be a minor inconvenience in their routine.
For those needing assistance or further clarification regarding the solid waste schedule, the City of Atlanta encourages reaching out via their 3-1-1 hotline if calling within city limits, or 404-546-0311 for calls originating outside of it. Additionally, residents can always download the Atlanta Solid Waste Services mobile app or visit their website to stay informed on service schedules and updates.
