
On Wednesday, the Honolulu Fire Department responded to a report of a missing hiker on the Maili Pillbox Trail. The emergency call came in around 8:00 p.m., prompting the dispatch of six units and 17 personnel. First responders arrived by 8:07 p.m. and began searching on foot, while Air 1 deployed additional rescue personnel to assist from above. The combined ground and air search led to the recovery of the hiker’s body, according to the Honolulu Fire Department.
The hiker was found late at night after several hours of search and rescue efforts. The person was secured and moved off the trail, with care transferred to Emergency Medical Services at about 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, as reported by the Honolulu Fire Department.
