Boulder County Parks & Open Space has teamed up with the Boulder Watershed Collective and other partners to engage the community in reducing wildfire risks through the Middle Boulder Creek Fuels Reduction Partnership Project. The initiative, which sets its sight on approximately 200 acres of forest near Nederland, aims to bolster forest resilience and mitigate the potential for future wildfires in the region.
Community input is a cornerstone of the project, and residents are strongly encouraged not just to submit written comments by June 10, but to also actively attend the upcoming community meetings at the Nederland Community Center. These meetings, scheduled for the evenings of June 12 and July 31 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., will function as a platform for discussion and collaboration, as detailed by Boulder County. A prior site visit that occurred on May 17 witnessed project partners and members of the community come together to lay the groundwork for these conversations.
The areas under consideration include lands both public and private, such as the Tucker and Elk Draw area and Arapaho Ranch. Representatives from Boulder County Parks & Open Space and the Boulder Watershed Collective will be available to address questions regarding the project's intricacies and objectives.
