Brooklyn Park residents with four-legged friends, take note. In an effort to promote pet safety, two local microchip clinics will be offering their services at a low cost. Announced by the Brooklyn Park, MN - Police Department on their Facebook page, the clinics are scheduled for Saturday, June 7, 2025. Proud pet owners have the chance to get their animal companions microchipped, which can be a simple yet crucial procedure for their safety.
For those interested, one event is hosted at the Brooklyn Park Pet Hospital and another at the Maple Grove-based Pets Under Police Security (PUPS) facility. As expressed on their social media, the police department sees microchipping as a reliable way to ensure pets can be identified and returned if lost. Both clinics will operate on a first-come, first-served basis, encouraging pet owners to arrive early. Set for 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, the Brooklyn Park Pet Hospital will provide this service for a $20 fee, cash only.
Moreover, these clinics aren't just about the microchipping. The events are also featuring special guests for the very first time, including Ruff Start Rescue, Allied Emergency and Referral Center, and a group known as Barbee's Bounty. With the addition of these organizations, the microchip clinics aim to serve as a hub for pet wellness and resources beyond the simple implant of a chip.
Microchipping has increasingly been recognised as an essential part of responsible pet ownership. While tags and collars can get lost, a microchip serves as a permanent form of identification that can make the difference between a pet lost forever and one returned to their family. With pets being more than animals – they are members of the household – taking this small step can mean securing the safety of a cherished companion.
