May is officially Building Safety Month in Buckeye, and the city is teaming up with the International Code Council, along with its 64,000 members, to bring awareness to the rigor and necessity of building codes. The month-long campaign is all about shining a light on the importance of having safe structures and recognizing municipal workers who make that possible. According to the city's announcement, educational events are slated throughout May to engage the community.

A series of presentations and events is on the calendar, where Buckeye's city staff will be ready to satisfy the curiosity of residents. The lineup ranges from a sit-down at the Coyote Library to a meet-up at Lowe's Home Improvement. The gatherings are opportunities for dialogues about safe building practices, the significance of modern codes, and the professionals who bring these details into the third dimension. One of the hallmark gatherings will be taking place on Wednesday, May 7, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Coyote Library. Lowe's on Watson Rd will host two events on May 10 and May 17 in the morning.

Last year, Buckeye's Building Safety team issued more than 5,500 permits, reviewed over 7,300 plans, and completed upwards of 59,000 inspections. Behind these numbers is a daily dedication to ensuring a growing community remains a safe one.

The Building Safety team plays a critical role in maintaining the health of the city's infrastructure. As the city of Buckeye states, the aim is to "educate residents and businesses on the value of safe building practices" and to herald "the importance of modern codes and the skilled professionals who help bring them to life."
