The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is calling on local voices to chime in on the proposed improvements along a key portion of the state's roadways. The CO 115 Cañon City Through Florence Safety Improvements and Resurfacing project seeks to revitalize a 14-mile stretch of highway, alongside enhancing the security and experience for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians. To gather crucial community feedback, CDOT has set an open house event for next month where residents can learn about the project and share their insights.
This key infrastructural update aims to repave CO 115, beginning at the intersection with US 50 in Cañon City and continuing up to the interchange near Penrose. According to CDOT, the project will also expand shoulders between Ash St. and the Chandler Creek bridge, promoting better safety conditions. As it stands, this phase is dedicated to understanding the current challenges of the corridor by gathering traffic counts, surveying utility locations, as well as collecting the concerns and preferences of those directly impacted by the highway's condition.
Noteworthy, your calendar if you're interested in having a say on the matter, the community open house is scheduled for Thursday, June 5, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Pathfinder Park Event Center, located conveniently on CO Highway 115 in Florence. This session is not just informative, but it's a chance for locals to directly influence the project's outcome by providing personal feedback to the CDOT team.
