
Charlotte residents were awakened to tragic news this weekend as the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) are now investigating a homicide in the North Division. According to officials, the incident took place in the 9300 block of Broken Pine Lane, where the law enforcement responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call in today.
When officers arrived shortly after midnight, they discovered a person suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, whose identity is yet to be revealed pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the scene. The CMPD Homicide Unit, alongside the Crime Scene Search team, jumped into action to process the scene and collect the physical evidence while representatives from CMPD’s Operations Command and Victim Services were also present to assist in the aftermath of the event.
This homicide marks another instance of gun violence plaguing communities, disrupting the fabric of what many consider to be their safe haven. Detective Buhr has been assigned as the lead detective on this case, with a call to the community to come forward with any information that may aid in the investigation.
