A 15-year-old boy has been charged with multiple larcenies and for possession of a stolen firearm among other charges after a spate of criminal activity in Charlotte, reports QC News. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) stated that the juvenile was apprehended with a firearm and connected to several property crimes, including a vehicle theft and breaking and entering. The teenager, initially placed in a court-ordered facility in Fayetteville, fled the placement last Thursday and was assisted by a friend to secure a ride-share back to Charlotte.

On the day of his escape, a vehicle was reported stolen in the Eastway Division of Charlotte, a car which would later be found in the University Division with the teen's fingerprints inside, according to the WCNC. Two days after the vehicle theft, on Saturday, the CMPD was able to recover the vehicle, and the teen's connection to the incident became clear. The discovery was a crucial step in the investigation that would eventually lead to the teenager's arrest on Thursday as a suspect in another larceny incident from the University Division, during which, the firearm in his possession was seized by authorities.

Investigators further connected the young suspect to a larceny case from tomorrow, leading to additional charges being filed against him, as "attempted larceny of a motor vehicle, breaking or entering into a motor vehicle, and felony larceny," according to a statement by QC News The CMPD's Juvenile Accountability and Division Empowerment (JADE) officers applied for and obtained a Secure Custody Order for the juvenile on several counts, including possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a handgun by a minor, and possession of a concealed handgun, as well as possession of marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia.

Upon his arrest, the young offender was found with numerous items that brought on additional charges against him such as “possession of a handgun by a minor, possession of a concealed handgun, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and misdemeanor larceny,” reported WSOCTV. CMPD confirmed that after the arrest, the juvenile was transported to the Cabarrus County Juvenile Detention Center without incident.
