In an effort to streamline its plat review process, the City of New Braunfels has announced the full transition of plat applications to an electronic format with its ePlan review system, ProjectDox, as reported by the city's official government website. This move is designed to allow for unrestricted electronic submissions of plats*, facilitating a more coordinated review process by the city officials involved.

Born out of the platform's launch back in 2023, this transition is galvanized by the need for a more efficient system where applicants can follow straightforward instructions emailed to them after completing the online application. Through the Online Permitting Portal, they must upload documents to a separate ePlan site, which will complete the plat submission; application fees are payable on the permitting portal once the application is deemed complete. While new users to the system will need to create an ePlan account, applicants already associated with the city’s online system will automatically receive an invitation and a convenient link via email to submit their plat documents, according to the city's announcement.

Beginning May 5, 2025, all new plat applications will make use of this advanced ePlan review system, marking a significant shift in how plat submissions are processed by the City of New Braunfels. Documents must adjoin the project appropriately—with plat drawings uploaded solely in the "Plat Drawings" folder, formatted to 18-by-24 inches, as individual .pdf files named systematically, along with other documents uploaded to a designated "All Other Documents" folder and similarly well-labeled for easy identification. For questions or help with submissions, contact the Planning & Development Services Department, Planning Division, at [email protected] or call (830) 221-4041 (ext. 2).

Note that specific types of plat submittals—such as residential replats that fall under Sec. 118-34(c)(2) of the subdivision platting ordinance—will continue to adhere to the existing submittal window to comply with state-required public hearing notices and necessary Planning Commission contemplation, as clarified in the city's online statement.
