
The Cobb County Public Library hosts its annual Summer Reading Kickoff Party on Saturday, June 7. According to a press release, Switzer Library by Marietta Square will be the go-to place from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM for book lovers and the community looking for a festive start to the summer season.
Last year's event was a hit with over 1,400 people attending and this year the library is set to up the ante with interactive activities, crafts, music, and giveaways that celebrate the theme "Color Our World,” attendees delve into a mosaic of stories and ideas as they engage with various cultures and communities. The party will be a family-friendly affair, with chances to win prizes and snap pictures with fan favorites Rita Book and Dewey, the library mascots.
"Our Summer Reading Program reflects months of careful planning, typically starting six to seven months in advance, all to ensure it provides meaningful and fun experiences for readers of all ages right here in Cobb County, a go-to destination for family fun," Slone Williams, Community and User Engagement Division Manager, told Cobb County News. The library, boasting over 400,000 cardholders, emphasizes inclusivity and joy in its programming, with gratitude extended to community partners and the Cobb Library Foundation for their continual support.
The Cobb County Public Library’s Summer Reading Challenge is now open for registration at cobbcat.org/summer, where participants can log their reading and earn rewards throughout June and July. The celebration begins with a free Kickoff Party at Switzer Library, promising a fun-filled day of activities and community spirit. Ongoing programs and events will continue all summer, offering plenty of opportunities for readers of all ages to stay engaged.
