Buckhead residents are grappling with a persistent water outage that has left homes and businesses dry since Sunday night. The Atlanta Department of Watershed Management has been navigating through the puzzling circumstance around Nancy Creek Road and Northside Parkway, where no obvious signs of a water main break have surfaced. Crews are threading through the area, "actively searching and troubleshooting in multiple locations," as stated by FOX 5 Atlanta.
In their latest efforts, field teams pinpointed a valve at 3286 Northside Parkway NW that is under suspicion and could be impacting water service to the vicinity, with approximately 75 homes, five apartment complexes, and eight fire hydrants potentially affected. As the work progresses, residents like Bill Burns have shared their frustrations with Atlanta News First, "Come home and can’t wash your hands and can’t go to the bathroom. Lots of laundry and dishes to do. It’s a pain."
As a provisional measure, the city has organized distribution of bottled water to assist those affected. Starting at 8 a.m., residents can collect water from the Westminster School's tennis courts located at 1424 West Paces Ferry Road.
Moreover, the Atlanta News First crew observed as Watershed Management personnel assessed fire hydrants in the area, revealing that two out of three failed to produce water.
