Community engagement is about to get a cool summer twist in Coon Rapids, where local residents can expect to mingle with city officials and first responders, all while enjoying the added bonus of free ice cream and water. According to the City of Coon Rapids, their 'Summer in the City' meetings will offer community members the chance to connect with city leaders and staff across various departments. These informal gatherings are set to take place in select parks, with the first event kicking off at Thorpe Park on June 10 from 6:30-8 p.m.
Walking through the parks, while residents discover more about their city's resources, fire trucks and police cars will be among the public works equipment on display. As for the City departments, expect them to have their own booths, eager to delve into conversations on a broad array of topics. The police and fire departments, not to be left out, will also be on hand to answer any queries and provide insights into their day-to-day operations.
The series of meetings promises an evening of constructive dialogue and a good dose of community spirit, key ingredients to a thriving city. From updates on local government to information on city events and facilities, the City of Coon Rapids is extending an open invitation. All residents need to do is show up to any of the 'Summer in the City' meetings to engage in the discourse and perhaps, to cool off with the free treats on hand.
Carrying forth the tradition of community building, the subsequent gatherings will grace Lions Coon Creek Park on June 24 and Parkside Park on July 22. Each meeting provides a platform for residents not just to cool down with free ice cream, which seems to be a hit in the hot summer months, but also to have purposeful conversations with the pillars of their community. Ensuring easy access for all, all locations are conveniently located along Crooked Lake Blvd. and 99th Ave.
