Firefighters are battling to contain the Cherry Fire, which has swept through 49 acres in Solano County since it sparked into action earlier today. According to a social media post from the CAL FIRE Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit, the blaze began off Cherry Glen Extension Road, north of I-80 near Vacaville, and has been making its way uphill through light vegetation at a moderate rate of spread.
In their latest update, CAL FIRE Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit stated, "multiple local agencies are at scene of a vegetation fire." Though the situation remains serious, there have been no immediate reports of structural threats or evacuations. The cause of the fire, which began at approximately 1:15 PM, is still under investigation, as noted on the official CAL FIRE incident page for the Cherry Fire. Combating weather conditions and terrain could prove challenging despite the firefighters' efforts.
Residents of Vacaville and surrounding communities are urged to stay informed about the fire's progression and should be prepared for any potential evacuation orders. Community members need to adhere to instructions provided by local authorities and fire officials to ensure their safety and the safety of the emergency response teams working to control the fire. Updates on the incident can be found on the CAL FIRE website.
