According to the latest weather forecast, Dallas residents are set to experience a sunny and hot week, with temperatures soaring near the triple-digit mark. Today's high is expected to reach a blazing 93 degrees, accompanied by a spirited south wind blowing at 10 to 15 mph. As the sun sets, the mercury is predicted to dip to a comfortable 73 degrees, with the southern breeze persisting.
The sweltering heat continues, as Wednesday is tipped to be even hotter, with forecasts predicting a high of 101 degrees. According to the National Weather Service, the week also includes a mix of clear skies and cloudiness, especially as we approach the weekend. Saturday and Sunday presage a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, bringing in some relief from the unrelenting sun. While temperatures hover in the mid-90s throughout the week, Dallasites might need to brace themselves for a slight cooldown come Monday, with the temperature taking a minor tumble to a near 93 degrees.
Amidst this period of intense heat, the city faces another concern: the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has issued an Ozone Action Day for the Dallas-Fort Worth area on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. This alert warns of atmospheric conditions that could lead to high levels of ozone air pollution, which can be detrimental to the health of residents, particularly those with respiratory conditions.
To combat the rise in ozone levels, TCEQ advises taking action to reduce pollution by sharing a ride, walking, riding a bicycle, taking your lunch to work, avoiding drive-through lanes, conserving energy, and keeping your vehicle properly tuned. These seemingly small but collectively significant steps can help mitigate the adverse effects of high ozone levels in the atmosphere. As the forecast suggests, while the skies may seem clear, our air might be anything but.
