A tragic two-car collision earlier yesterday resulted in the death of one man and left two others shaken but largely unharmed. The incident took place at approximately 2:08 a.m. on Page Boulevard at the intersection with Vandeventer Avenue, where a Ford Freestyle traveling eastbound failed to adhere to a red traffic light and collided with a Ford Ranger, according to St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's report.
The aftermath of the collision was severe, with the Ford Ranger being propelled into nearby edifice, both vehicle and structure erupting into flames shortly thereafter. The Fire Department was quick on the scene to extinguish the fire. One chilling detail from the official report indicates that the unidentified male driver of the Ford Ranger did not survive the impact and was consequently pronounced dead at the location of the crash.
The driver of the Ford Freestyle, a 26-year-old woman, remarkably sustained no injuries, says the police report. She was accompanied by two passengers; a 30-year-old woman, who was hospitalized and is said to be in stable condition, and a 29-year-old man who was also unharmed.
The St. Louis Police Department is continuing their inquiries, and updates are anticipated as new information comes to light.
