The City of Dearborn is opening its doors, quite literally, to help residents dispose of their paper clutter in a responsible and environmentally friendly manner. In just a couple of days, on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, the Dearborn Department of Public Works (DPW) Yard at 2951 Greenfield Road will become a hub for paper shredding.

According to a recent press release from the City of Dearborn, this complimentary shredding event is exclusive to residents of Dearborn. For those looking to participate, a proof of residency is required to access the service. On this day of document decluttering, organizers specify that each resident is allowed to bring up to five office-sized boxes of paper, approximately the size of a standard moving box, with a weight limit of 50 pounds each. Alternatively, you can stuff your papers into paper yard waste bags, should boxes prove cumbersome.

The City of Dearborn's announcement also notes that while the DPW Yard will be transformed into a temporary shredding site, it will not offer any other services on Saturday. This hints at a singular, focused mission: to shred and to protect. It's a straightforward, no-nonsense opportunity to protect personal information and the environment in one fell swoop.
